Dragon Boat Races and Rainy Days

We had quite an eventful weekend this past weekend.  Dragon Boat Races in Connecticut on Saturday and a Birthday Party on Sunday. The soccer season is kicking in for Gabrielle and Xavier and I decided to brave taking the little girls solo to both events. We had a fun time, but it definitely wasn't a relaxing weekend.

Sitting on the Green eating a snack and watching Asian themed performances.

The girls really settled in and enjoyed a few of the shows. Since I was flying solo, it was hard to get very many pictures. These two really keep me on my toes.

After watching a few performances we ventured down toward the river to watch some of the Dragon Boat races.

The girls chatted with each other while we waited for the next race to begin.

The river was a ways below us and the race started quite a distance from us.

I was a little surprised at how focused the girls were on the races-- especially Josie

The were very happy when the boats crossed the finish line.

Sunday was a very rainy day. The girls had a birthday party in the afternoon and spent the morning making birthday cards for their friend.

Even Xavier helped the girls with their cards.

Not only did they make some nice cards, but they were entertained for awhile.

Some fun play dough time after the card making.

Fresh from their nap and dressed to party!

August Activities

Nothing really exciting-- more pictures of the same old summer fun.

More beach fun!

More lazy afternoons cooling off with a good popsicle.

More water fun days at the spray park.

Clara Rose cautiously walking down a hill.

The girls did get out today for a little bike ride-- it was actually not too hot and sunny. Clara Rose's legs have grown long enough to peddal one of the trikes-- she needs work on steering.

Josie is motoring off like there is no tomorrow.

'Whaddaya guys doing?"

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you!

Yay Yay's Vacation: part 2

I had a pretty hectic week back at work and I am looking forward to having tomorrow off-- to myself! I cannot even remember the last time I had a whole day for just me!

Here are pictures from the rest of our fun week with Yay Yay.

Friday: We took some time off without the girls and roamed around New Port for the day. We ducked into a fun ocean-side restraunt for lunch and managed to get a great table on the deck overlooking the marina.

It was another tasty treat-- Earl had a Swordfish BLT and I had lobster crepes.

MMmmmm! Yummy!

We even ran into Bill Murray!

Gabrielle spend the week with relatives and friends near Newport and we picked her up on our way home.
She bought the girls bubbles shaped like ice-cream cones.
They were a HUGE hit!

We all spent time chatting with Gabrielle and looking at some pictures from Wim's childhood that Grandma gave to Gabrielle.

Clara Rose spent time showing off her sand table skills.

The next day we all took Yay Yay to the beach.

I managed to take some interesting pictures of Gabrielle and Josie.
It's amazing what a little cropping and brightening can do!

Josie is in the background and Gabrielle is in the forground.

The day started out a little iffy-- lots of rain clods hovering around-- but this is New England and the clouds can blow out just as quickly as they blow in.

Wim Chillin, enjoying the day.

Yay Yay strutting his stuff.

All three grils hanging out on Gabrielle's beach towel.

Soaking in the sun.

Gabrielle and the girls digging a beach hole.

Yay Yay cracking jokes.

Yay Yay's last day with us, we spent the morning drinking coffee on the lawn while the girls ran around blowing bubbles.

Clara Rose is giving it all she's got!

Josie and Yay Yat think she is super funny.

In the afternoon we took the girls to the playground/spray park.

Clara Rose enjoyed a few more swings from her beloved Yay Yay.

Josie enjoys swinging herself.

The girls soon got too warm and hit the spray park to cool off.

I think the water was a little cooler than Josie thought it would be on such a hot day!

It didn't take long for her to adjust.

Clara Rose also had fun splashing and cooling off.

Before lone we were back at home, had eaten and it was time for bed.

The girls took turns showering Yay Yay with hugs and kisses.

"I love Yay Yay!"

"I'm going to miss you Clara Rose."

"No! You're not going anywhere Yay Yay!"

We all love to see Yay Yay when he comes to visit and we miss him when he leaves!

We LOVE YOU YAY YAY!
