Jack-O-Lantern Spooktacular!

This weekend we took the girls to visit the Jack-O-Latern (jol) show at our local zoo. It is a pretty big event in our area and we were glad we got there early because the line was super SUPER long when we left.

Josie and Clara Rose were excited to be up and about at night, after their bedtime-- they were also a little nervous and didn't know wha to expect.

It is hard to describe all the JOLs-- there were soooo many-- all over and a pretty long walk through the woods and by a pond. There were JOLs of all sizes-- the big ones were eating smaller ones!
Josie and her friend Angeline hung out walking along the trail for quite a while.
There were also Halloween characters walking around greeting everyone.
Josie wasn't to enthused with the Halloween characters.
There were several different themed areas in the JOL park. One area was a walk in time and there were several pumpkins with dinosaurs carved into them and dinosaur scenes. There was also dinosaur sounds playing. Josie didn't care for that part and Wim carried her through it. Clara Rose did like it and ran around pointing at the different JOLs chanting "dinosaur."

Another area was the wilds of Africa and there were several pumpkins with carvings of animals. Both the girls liked this part.

Josie thought all the pumpkin faces were funny and a bit creepy.

A scene of Tianamen Square carved into a pumpkin.
This is just a small sample of all the JOLs. There were tons of JOLs out on the pond and tons lighting up trees as well. Lots of carvings of famous people and tons of JOLs with typical (but not quite typical) face carvings.

Happy Halloween Season!
