Two Years Today

Today is the two year anniversary day for Clara Rose's Adoption. This year is also percieved to be even more important because Clara Rose was not quite two when we adopted her so this anniversary marks the time when Clara Rose has been part of our family longer than she has lived anywhere else.

In adoption, this is suppose to be a milestone of sorts, although, I am not sure why exactly.

We love her beyond words and are so happy to have her in our family.

As happy as we are and as happy as she is 'today,' we cannot forget how heartbroken she was on this day two years ago when she left her foster family and how heartbroken she was for the following months.

Nor can we forget how heartbroken her family was when she left their family.

Nor will we forget that our families are connected to each other through our love for this little girl.

Later today, we will sit with Clara Rose and look through her adoption storybook. There are the expected pictures of the adoption trip and her first year living with our family-- becoming part of this new family and making it her family.

The book begins with pictures of us waiting to adopt her as well as pictures of her with her foster family before we adopted her and there are a few blank pages to represent that there is much to her early life we simply do not know.

At this young age, Clara Rose enjoys looking through this book and hearing the stories. I wonder what feelings about this book and the pictures it contains are yet to come.

We love you Clara Rose!
